62 CHAPTER 4 | Having fun Figure 4-10: When you open a photo for editing, the Basic Fixes category includes easy-to-use tools for cropping, straightening, and retouching. Try the Enhance button (a magic wand icon) to let the Photos app do its best automatically. For a seemingly simple editing program, Photos can do an impressive range of adjustments. One interface convention that definitely deserves a demo is the concept of circular dials rather than sliders for adjusting attributes such as brightness, contrast, and shadows. Figure 4-11 shows one such control in action. The Light category is selected on the left, and clicking the Brightness control from the top of the column on the right opens the circular wheel, Drag clockwise to increase brightness, counterclockwise to decrease brightness.
